Sound
anniSTIRsary vol. 1
05/26/07 10:00pm

In celebration of our 1-year anniversary, we are very proud to bring you the first edition of anniSTIRsary.  This compilation was built on the concept of randomly assigned remixes and includes the work of core StirSound family members, as well as friends new and old.  Tracks from nearly every one of our releases to date were hand selected and assigned for remix by pulling names out of a hat.  Just like the larger part of our catalog, there is a variety and solid production oozing from this one.

The artwork was done by our favorite feline friend, Boo, always a pleasure to work with.  His work can also bee seen on  Jon Doe's 'The Babbo Ep' and 'The Babbo Remixes' as well as Sarah Goldfarb's 'Calling You' and April Vallen's 'Secret Police'.

Thanks to every one of our artists for their participation and to all you downloaders out there for helping to keep us going.  This has been a great year for us and we plan to make the next even bigger and better.

We also have a new mix of an excellent Italo Disco selection by April Vallen.  If you’re not familiar with Italo, this mix will definitely clue you in.  You have no idea what you’re missing.  Guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Introducing Victorien
04/25/07 10:00PM

Victorien has consistently impressed us with his high output level and dream-like style over the last few months and it is a pleasure to bring you his debut Ep, Fuck the Pop.  This one is very well rounded in sound with deep textures and pads and a touch of funk.  We think you will agree when we say that Victorien is one of those artists that has the ability to find common ground between the ‘deep’ and the ‘bleep’.

Enjoi!

In other news, Ernesto has just released a track on Geyser Recordings Effusion 1 Compilation.  Check it out!

Our friends at Mogollon-NY have been nice and busy lately doing projects for the likes of DJ Hell’s Gigolo Records, Matador Records, Codigo Magazine, and Tush Magazine.  You can see their work for StirSound on Flavio Gaete’s ‘Lallaby’.

Also, we’ve finally begun our official NewsLetter.  Interested in subscribing?Victorien.htmlhttp://stirsound.com/Victorien_Fuck_the_Pop_stir016.htmlVictorien_Fuck_the_Pop_stir016.htmlVictorien.htmlErnesto.htmlhttp://www.geyser.de/http://mogollon-ny.com/http://gigolorecords.com/http://matadorrecords.com/http://www.codigo06140.com/http://www.tushmagazine.com/Flavio_Gaete_Lullaby_etc001.htmlmailto:newsletter@stirsound.com?subject=NewsLetter%20Subscribeshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1shapeimage_2_link_2shapeimage_2_link_3shapeimage_2_link_4shapeimage_2_link_5shapeimage_2_link_6shapeimage_2_link_7shapeimage_2_link_8shapeimage_2_link_9shapeimage_2_link_10shapeimage_2_link_11shapeimage_2_link_12
Paravoice and friends + Electrolurk and etc002
03/28/07 03:15PM

For our 15th release, we bring you Paravoice from Guadalajara, Mexico.  He’s joined by two friends, F*cka5 and Manuel Amezquita, for the Missing Ep.  He has a few vinyl releases in the wings on Nopal Beat Antena (Mexico) and Eintakt (Berlin) scheduled for later this year.  Keep your ears open for him, you’re bound to be hearing more from this man.

This month, we would like to introduce you to Norway’s Electrolurk.  He joins us with his debut Ep, Non Capisco, on our Et Cetera sister label.  He fuses acoustic performance, samples and beats with just a touch of glitch.  Also check out the compilations he has contributed to for the Politicide and 23Seconds netlabels.

A special thanks goes out to all the kids at Overflow in Murcia, Spain for throwing the StirSound Party this month!
Happy April Vallentine’s Day! + Verses Vol. 2
02/14/07 01:32PM

This month we have a very special debut release by StirSound co-founder April Vallen.  Secret Police is a mishmash of vibes from hip hop to techno.  Full of odd melodies and rhythms.

Also to wet your taste buds and grease your dance floors, Verses Vol. 2 by Sam&Dave&Lowran and Yin Elek.  This is the follow up to Ernesto vs. Jon Doe and the second installment in the Verses Series.  These two complement each other’s styles very nicely for a combination of deep tones and catchy rhythms.

Our friends in Marseilles have been featured in the French magazine Coming Up.  The article can be read (in French) here.

DJ L'embrouille from France has sent us a few links to mixes he’s done with our tracks.  One is available through Echosuro Netlabel from Costa Rica and the other is on our extras page.April_Vallen.htmlhttp://stirsound.com/April_Vallen_Secret_Police_stir014.htmlApril_Vallen_Secret_Police_stir014.htmlLowran_vs_Yin_Elek_Grunch_the_Call_012.htmlhttp://stirsound.com/Lowran.htmlSamDaveLowran.htmlYin_Elek.htmlErnesto_vs_Jon_Doe_SeeMy_Emotion_stir004.htmlhttp://www.comingup.net/index.phphttp://ia311532.us.archive.org/0/items/echoscuro_mix2/NetlabelMix20.mp3extras.htmlshapeimage_3_link_0shapeimage_3_link_1shapeimage_3_link_2shapeimage_3_link_3shapeimage_3_link_4shapeimage_3_link_5shapeimage_3_link_6shapeimage_3_link_7shapeimage_3_link_8shapeimage_3_link_9shapeimage_3_link_10
We have hit the double digits!
01/22/07 03:22PM

So here we are:  A new year and more than 10 releases!  We’ve re-worked the layout a bit to ring in the New Year.

To celebrate our 10th release we’ve got some special remixes from our very 1st release, The Babbo Ep.  Greg Le Roy, Lowran, Leggo, and a newcomer, Raum 72 have all contributed their views of these tracks.  It’s an assortment of styles for everyone.  This one goes out to Raum in celebration of his birthday!

We would also like to give a very warm welcome to our dear friend Sarah Goldfarb!  At this point, there’s no stopping him.  From his labels Roman,Photo and indigo*magenta to his releases on Treibstoff, this man grows busier with every day.  Calling You is an excellent Ep of dark loopy mayhem with a remix by Jon Doe.
Flavors of the Month Part 2
12/05/06 12:51PM

For our second installment of the Flavors of the Month, we bring you a cold french electro single from the Plastic Machine duo and four dance floor techno tracks from Spain’s Yin Elek.

NY-Paris is a great look at what is going on in the underbelly of electro right now.  We have invited back our good friend Leggo as well as some newcomers, Equitant and Sevenfive.  All four tracks are very different from one another and if you have a taste for electro, you’re bound to love one of them.

The tunes on Escapes are super fine cuts for the Mp3 playing djs out there.  This release spans from gritty to smooth with a surprising touch of the Detroit sound.  We expect that these will get your weekend started off just right.

Word on the street is that Leggo’s Plastic Addict and More and More will be seeing a vinyl release on the new french label KDO.  The 12” will include the original versions along with Jon Doe’s remix of Plastic Addict and a remix by Humantronic for More and More.  Rest assured that we will supply all the details in the coming months.

We also have two new DJ mixes for you to check out in the extras section.Plastic_Machine.htmlYin_Elek.htmlPlastic_Machine_NY_Paris_Remixes_stir009.htmlLeggo_The_Constancy_of_Compromise_stir006.htmlEquitant.htmlhttp://stirsound.com/Equitant.htmlSevenfive.htmlYin_Elek_Escapes_stir008.htmlhttp://stirsound.com/Leggo_The_Constancy_of_Compromise_stir006.htmlLeggo_The_Constancy_of_Compromise_stir006.htmlLeggo_The_Constancy_of_Compromise_stir006.htmlIan_Funk_aka_Jon_Doe.htmlLeggo_The_Constancy_of_Compromise_stir006.htmlextras.htmlshapeimage_4_link_0shapeimage_4_link_1shapeimage_4_link_2shapeimage_4_link_3shapeimage_4_link_4shapeimage_4_link_5shapeimage_4_link_6shapeimage_4_link_7shapeimage_4_link_8shapeimage_4_link_9shapeimage_4_link_10shapeimage_4_link_11shapeimage_4_link_12shapeimage_4_link_13
Flavors of the Month Part 1
11/29/06 12:51PM

This month we have two releases for you, both with their very own distinct flavors:  some excellent minimal techno from Herve AK and a bit of hybrid electro from Leggo.  Both of these releases have been highly anticipated and we hope that you enjoy them.

Delected contains 3 super slinky after hours jams from Lyon's Herve AK.  The whole release is guaranteed to get you bouncing your head in the wee hours of the night.  Herve AK has had two very successful releases with Kompakt's K2 label as well as labels like Obsolete, Salto, and Aenaria.

Leggo's Constancy of Compromise takes influences from everywhere.  Electro, techno, house and hip hop are all smashed together into a nice little package.  The third track, 'Plastic Addict', includes a vocal from Art Kraft, a DJ on Radio Grenouille’s Radio Klash.  Jon Doe's remix of the same track has been getting quite a bit of attention as well.
Introducing Varoslav
11/05/06 10:21PM

How Many Dogs? is a stunningly hypnotic look into Varoslav's head.  We have been very excited about this release since we heard it and hope that you like it too.  Varoslav and David K have recently released the single Peace in Gypsie with our friends at 32bit Records and is set to release his own Ep with them soon.

The whole StirSound team would like to thank Pheek once again.  He recently reviewed one of our releases for the second time by showing the Ernesto vs. Jon Doe project some love.  This has led us to the decision that we will continue on with more vs. projects in the future.

Flavio Gaete was just interviewed by FOEM/Electronic Youth.  You can check it out here.

Ernesto vs. Jon Doe
10/14/06 03:33PM

Our fourth release is a collaboration between Ernesto and Jon Doe.  The two traded and remixed tracks resulting in a nice blend of contrasting styles.  Full of scattered percussion and warn textures, this is techno with a different direction.

Downtime’s first 12” EP is available on Metrarecords.  The self titled 3 tracker can be purchased on New York City’s Dance Tracks website.  Check it out!

Congrats to all our friends in Marseille for their new release on unfoundsound.  The Massalian Private Jokes compilation is a must have full of great tunes by great people.
Next up, sam&dave&lowran
08/27/06 10:21PM

Our next release is by Marseille’s sam&dave&lowran.  37 degrés is a skeletally minimal EP with chopped vocals, dry snares, and thumpy bass-lines.  Five techno tracks made for the dance floor.  Lowran has also released music with Indigo*Magenta.

We have been receiving a lot of positive feedback for our last releases.  We thank you all for your support!  Expect to be hearing quite a bit more great music in the coming months.
Introducing Greg le Roy and Flavio Gaete
08/12/06 11:43PM

We are excited to present Greg le Roy and his debut release. Numismate reveals the sensitive & melancholic side of his character by exploring textures and sounds sweeping from lush and funky to spun-out and hypnotic. Also check out his dj mix on the extras page.

Next up we have Flavio Gaete helping us kick off our new sister label, Et Cetera. Lullaby is a selection of melodic ambient work with strong (classical) minimal influence. Each unique element is played by a different voice creating tonal, fragmented melodies with an ever-revolving tembre.

Flavio is also set to release a track from his Sucre project entitled Better later this month.  The Original, along with a remix by Downtime, will be hitting digital shelves on August 23rd.  Other remixes by Kamoni and Defpoint to follow shortly.
Welcome to Stir Sound!
05/05/06 9:23PM

We are glad to be up and running in 2006 with high hopes of helping to protect and advance the independent music we all hold so dear to us. Here at Stir, you will find downloadable mp3 releases from some of our good friends, their friends, and so on. Several releases are slated in the coming months, so please check back soon!

First we would like to share The Babbo EP by Jon Doe. Four techno flavored experimental compositions dripping with noisy ambience, playful percussion, and field recordings all wrapped up in a dark moody blanket of cynicism.

Also, check out the mix comps and other fun stuff on the extras page which should shed some light on a bit of the music we enjoy. We hope you enjoy and many thanks for stopping by.

We are more than open to any comments and suggestions you might have, so get in touch and by all means stay in touch!
Measax’s Debut
06/21/07 3:05pm

This month, after our extremely successful anniSTIRsary, we’d like to give you some fresh new tunes by a fresh new talent.  He makes his debut to the world on StirSound with a 5 track ep entitled, ‘Avocado Nuts’, littered with vocal snippets and dripping with funk conciseness.

Summer has begun everyone!  Play it!
COR100 ‘Just Done It Ep’
07/26/2007 10:02pm

We are very happy to give you COR100’s Just Done It EP.  A diverse release focused on the usage of opposite textures.  The 3 original tracks are joined by StirSound heads April Vallen and Jon Doe with newcomer Lui from Roma, IT.

We would also like to make a special StirSound announcement that KDO Records is officially born with it’s first release, Leggo’sPlastic & More’.  Our 6th release by Leggo took us all by storm and we’re happy to say it’s now available on vinyl.  More (& More) info on the KDO website.

Dandi & Ugo at Italo Business have recently hosted Jon Doe’s Promo Summer Set on their website.  This set has TONS of unreleased and promo tracks from friends and our new little project, StirDigital.
Jeffrey S., Leggo vs. Equitant, & 4m
08/26/2007 02:04am

As we are always looking to provide a little something for everyone, this month we gladly give to you 3 new releases all in a different genre of electronic music.  For those new to the Stir brand, you will find we enjoy nothing more than mixing it up. Rather than be typecast into the narrow confines of what has become the ‘netlabel community’, we simply present the music we enjoy.

First, in celebration of our 20th net release, we are very happy to bring the debut outing of Jeffrey S.  from Washington DC.  Breaking Down is all about bumpy basses and wiggly warbles.  Straight forward, yet off to the side, this one will work your needles.

Next, we present Leggo vs Equitant and their Electro Noir for our third installment of the VS series.  It is tough to find a better match, as these two fine artists complement each other’s bold - and often dirty - takes on Electro in all it’s 21st century brilliance. The outcome is a very forward thinking and futuristic EP, full of dark postured vibes, crisp snappy drums, and eerie sci-fi melodies.

Also this month, we’ve got a brand new Ep on Et Cetera by the UK duo, 4m.  This self-titled ep, Form, is overflowing with ambience, recorded instruments and nice slick break-beats, this is one to put your feet up to and enjoy.
Cryo Attacks!
09/29/07 10:30pm

This month we’ve got a fresh and bouncy ep from PaNet’s Cryo.  Klingon’s Attack is a great throw-back to the days of acid house with it’s hip-hop style vocal cuts and 303 basslines.  The release is the 4 track debut for Cryo on StirSound joined by Stir creators Jon Doe and April Vallen in their collective mode as DownTime.

Also this month, we’d like to officially announce our foray into the digital realm.  We’re proud to present the Various Artists 4Corners as the first release including monster tracks Yin Elek, Sam&Dave&Lowran, Jon Doe and April Vallen.  The release has already gotten great dj support and feedback.  Check it out on Beatport and 3BeatDigital as well as most of your favorite download shops.  For the records release, we threw a crazy warehouse party in the mountains outside of Washington DC and would to thank all the kids who came out to support.  Big thanks to Jason, Brian, Matt, Matteo and the rest of the Cville click!
Jorge HM & 2Clic
10/28/2007  10:00 pm

Number 23 in our catalog brings the synthetic sounds of Lyon’s 2Clic to the Stir Family.  This duet of Fred and Hubert have been a part of Naturalgroove in Lyon since it’s creation.  Their debut on StirSound is the 3 track ep, Domina, a well balanced combination of techno and progressive styles full of strange harmonic ambience.

We would like to give a big introduction to Jorge HM, a young producer from Guadalajara, Mexico.  His first release on StirSound is the Principal-Primera Ep, a syncopated and heady 3 tracker.  Keep your ears peeled for more music by Jorge HM under our StirDigital side too!  Be sure to check out his releases with GP Ear and Electrico on Beatport as well.

StirSound head Jon Doe has been very busy lately and would like to point you in the direction of his new Ep on Pinksilver entitled ‘Fifth-Floor Walk-Up’.  He has also recently contributed to the Pinksilver 1 Year anniversay, 365, as well as Metroline Recordings’ new Metro Buskers Vol. 2 compilations.  Both can be downloaded for free from their host sites.

Also this month, we would like to call attention to a review of Varoslav’s ‘How Many Dog’s Ep’ in Germany’s Beat Magazine.  You can read the original German and English translation versions HERE.
Neverland Exists!
11/28/2007  05:32 pm

It is a great pleasure to welcome the Neovinyl netlabel head, Carlo, and his world of immortality and escapism.  The Spaniard takes us to a fictitious, but sonically personified locale in our minds with a breathy collection of moody pads and intricate tonalities on his debut for the Stir imprint, Neverland Exists.  A  beautifully constructed EP with 4 well crafted cuts from one of the masters of melodic techno.  This is his first release following his very tasty LP, Supersonic Girls Can Not Dance on Neovinyl, and we’re extra happy to be a home for this outting.  Also check out his work for Tropic-Netlabel, an EP that was very well received. Neverland is alive and well!
D-Click’s Waveforms Ep
01/24/2008  04:00 pm

Welcome back! After a nice little break over the holidays, and always looking to change up the sound a little bit, we’re kicking off 2008 with D-Click’s genre bending Waveforms Ep.  A participant in unfoundsound’s field recording releases, it’s no surprise this release is overflowing with sound snippets and super soft pads and creating a disturbing lullaby.

In other news, StirSound label head Jon Doe has just released Scarpe Biance on the Malaga, Spain based netlabel Neovinyl.  Four delicious Sunday morning jams with a fantastic remix by our very own Yin Elek, who has just released his first vinyl on Xpansul’s Discos de Lata imprint.  Also out recently is a remix by Sam&Dave&Lowran on the latest unfound release, Tleilaxu’s Sleepercel.

Also check out our extras page for a new set by Neovinyl head Baldo.
StirDigital 002 - Jorge HM’s Barrio Gotico Ep
02/28/2008  01:43 pm

Out now on Beatport and soon in most other digital download shops is Jorge HM’s follow up to his Principal-Primera Ep on the StirSound Netlabel.  Barrio Gotico is comprised of 3 solid tracks from our favorite Guadalajaran legend.
Jon Doe - Gutter Lust Ep
03/07/2008  11:02 am

To say that we have a very special release for you lovers of free culture out there would be a towering understatement. This month we're delighted to showcase the Gutter Lust Ep. This long overdue follow-up is a moody and vivid EP from StirSound landlord and proprietor Jon Doe showcasing his most guilty pleasures.  Bringing up the rear on this one are the label heads of two of our favorite netlabels, Carlo from Neovinyl and D.Soul of Tropic.

Jon Doe is also anticipating the first release under his real name.  Ian Funk - No Hands Ep is out later this month on Metroline Limited and will be available at Beatport, Kompakt, and Juno for your downloading pleasure.

Don’t forget!  Jorge HM’s Barrio Gotico Ep is also out now on Beatport and most fine online retailers!

Finally, we’d like to shout out to all those involved in our Mexico Attacks tour.  Big thanks to Paravoice, Jorge HM, D-Bug, Manuel Amezquita, Jon Doe, Measax and Jeffrey.S for playing delicious sets all the way through.  Also thanks to Dave and Jason from C-Ville, David and 88 in DC, Jackson Black, Kai, Sylvana, Adam, Navid, the Nopal Beat, Ramon and the Bar Americas bartenders.

Check out the extras page for a new live set by Carlo!
Fancie and Steevie P
04/28/2008  12:27 am

Following our last digital release by the unstoppable Jorge HM, Stir would like you to submerge your listening utensils into the driving and magnetic sounds of his friend, and ours, Fancie.  We're privileged to add this Barcelona based Spaniard to Stir's expansive roster of producers and graphic artists from around the world as he brings a plethora of unique djing and production experience to the table.  Fancie’s Purple Voices Ep will definitely help you kick off your summer insanity!

On the Netlabel front, we’ve got a stomper for you this month.  Stevie P from Ghent, Belgium brings us a sick debut Ep.  Three original tracks that have been eating up dance floors in Europe and the Americas along with a fist-full of remixes for you to sink your needles into.  He’s a definite new talent, so listen up!

If you missed the StirSound Special Sunday on Shoutedfm, we’ve posted the mix sets that were featured in our extras section.  Enjoy these special mixes by Sam&Dave&Lowran, Yin Elek, Jon Doe and Measax & Jeffery.S plus a StirSound mix by Zoe.Orange from Cologne.
TrickMa - Swing Up
05/28/2008  09:21 pm

The first release of the summer, and 29th in our netlabel catalog, comes from Neapolitan youngster TrickMa with his Swing Up EP.  3 tracks of pure Italian energy.  TrickMa is involved in throwing the Minimalisimi parties in Naples playing alongside many talented and jet-setting djs while also running his own label, Mosaiko Musik with releases with the likes of Aquilina & Capriati.
Pablo Rez vs. Ian Funk
06/17/2008  02:41 pm

After a little break on the digital side of things, we’re back with a brand new release and the first verses in our digital catalog by Pablo Rez and StirSound head Ian Funk (aka Jon Doe) entitled Hidediddy EP.  Pablo Rez has been enjoying success from his releases with Forced Sense, Opossum and his newest on MiniSketch while Ian joined forces earlier this year with London based Metroline LTD.  This collaboration is not one to miss.
Paravoice’s BUOSA EP + Raum72’s Debut
08/21/2008  05:15 pm

Here we are at StirDigital number 5 with one of our most identifiable artists, Paravoice and the BUOSA EP. His thundering drums, and thick sinful basslines left our ears thirsting for everything he had to offer 2 years ago. Now, our favorite high energy Mexican is back with his follow up EP that conjures up some seriously opaque and mindwarping elements along with his own immediately recognizable vocal signatures.  Paravoice is joined on the remix tip by newcomer Otis Pill and StirSound staples Ian Funk & Jorge HM.

Also up to bat this month for our 30th netlabel release is Raum72 with Life is Real.  We’re stepping back a bit from the dancefloor on this one with more of a home listening broken beat downtempo house style all it’s own.
Panùm’s Mbulurata EP + Audioleptique joins the family.
11/06/2008  12:49 pm

For StirDigital 6, we’ve brought in our friend Panùm with his Mbulurata EP.  He serves up 3 dark and atmospheric after hours jams accompanied by a rework of one of the tracks.  Also included on this release is a remix by newcomer Emory Emlyn who you will be hearing more from in the coming months.

We’d also like to anounce our 31st net release coming from the French trio, Audioleptique, known in the netlabel scene for their releases on Miniatura and Microlabel.  Brainwash gives you a taste of their dubbier side to bring you one of our camp's most percussive releases to date.  A four-tracker full of pulverizing drums, groovy tribal elements and an overall crystal clear production
